End of Summer Roll Up Wrap Up

2024 EOSRU Humanitix (9)

This year we celebrated POGOH’s Community Ambassadors and the end of another great summer season with our BIGGEST group ride of the year! Over 250 registrants, including 75+ POGOH riders, took part in a 6.5 mile slow roll from The Highline, through the South Side, and back. Upon return to The Highline we enjoyed music from Cosmic Drip and food and drink from Sly Fox Brewing. Duquesne Light Company returned as the End of Summer Roll Up event sponsor for the 3rd year in a row and brought with them 250 free helmets for adults and kids!

It provides a moment where we get to celebrate with our incredible Community Ambassador cohort, and recognize all of the awesome work that they’ve accomplished this year. It’s a joy to see everyone from Ruach Bicycle Club, World Affairs Council, Women of Visions, and PUMP come together for a community-led celebration to commemorate another year, and I love that Mayor Gainey came to recognize them too!” – Erin Potts: Director of Marketing & Community Outreach 2024.09.07 EoSRU web (57 of 121) “Peace. The most memorable highlight for me during POGOH’s End of Summer Roll Up was the epic bike ride. With well over 100 cyclists present for the slow roll, we pedaled as a community through the streets of Pittsburgh in the Southside. As a lead rider, it was a very cool experience being able to guide and escort so many cyclists safely during the ride. I truly appreciate everyone’s help marshaling and corking to ensure that everyone had an enjoyable and gratifying experience. Special shout out to Mayor Ed Gainey who went on the bike ride as well. There is nothing like riding a bike through the streets of Pittsburgh with great people!” – Brother Lloyd Cheatom: Equity Initiatives Manager 2024.09.07 EoSRU web (25 of 121) crop 2024.09.07 EoSRU web (90 of 121) crop

Pittsburgh Mayor Ed Gainey and District 5 Councilperson Barb Warwick both attended the group ride and showed their support for bike share.

“I’m a big believer in POGOH and I think that, dollar for dollar, getting these POGOH Bikes in every neighborhood in Pittsburgh, within a 5 minute walk, is the best investment that we can make in our future transportation here in the city.” says Councilperson Warwick.
